Services
We act as a link between the farmer and the school by organising
farmer to school and school to farm visits. We encourage schools,
colleges and other groups to study the biodiversity of Wales locally and
to link the farm to all curriculum subjects. At present we are operating
in Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Llanelli, Swansea
and the Gower. We have also led visits with Secondary Schools, Universities,
the WI, YFC, Scout Groups and many other local groups. We contact
a school and set up a visit, arranging with the teacher:
- The date and venue (any one of a number of organic/Tir Gofal farms in Nick's network)
- Which years to be involved.
- How the visit can fit in with the term's curriculum

The next steps are:-
- To visit the school with or without the farmer for an hour or
so and link the pupils to the farm through an interactive sensory
presentation.
- We bring seeds, plants, plus many items that help tell the story
'from the field to the plate' and how every day of their lives
they link 3 times a day to a farm - local or other.
- We also show our 15 minute film called 'A Year in a Day' - following
this we have a 10 question quiz about the film.
- Following the visit, the school visits the farm, where we walk
a farm trail and enjoy the countryside and its wildlife.
Subjects discussed on the farm walk which are linked to the curriculum can include for example:
- Environmental studies,
- The food chain,
- Living things
- Rocks/geology
- Water, wells and springs
- Citizenship
